Ajla (Pronounced Ila)

Have you ever met someone that you instantly connect with. Someone you never forget. Someone that pops into you mind ever now and again. Well for me there is this one person. Ajla. Ajla is a girl, probably tens years of age, who I joked with while working on a playground in Bosnia. I can't really speak Bosnian and she only knows a little English but we communicated as much as we could. I'll never forget when she figured out that i was American. Her eyes lit up and i could see the envy. I promptly asked her where she was from and she responded with discussed "Sarajevo." You must understand one thing when a Bosnian says that name it is a beautiful sound. I went on to try to tell her that Sarajevo was a beautiful place but she would not hear it. After that day we didn't really talk much but every time I walked by the park she would wave and greet me by name. I would gladly wave back and greet her in return. So now I'm home and Ajla is still playing in the park.

I'm not really sure why that experience and that little ten year old was so amazing to me.
